Course Overview

The Planning and Managing Windows 7 Desktop Deployments and Environments M6294 instructor-led training course has been designed for desktop administrators who want to specialise in desktop deployment, configuration and management. Course Prerequisites

Candidates attending the M6294 Microsoft training course should have a solid understanding of TCP/IP and networking concepts and Windows and Active Directory such as: domain user accounts, domain vs. local user accounts, user profiles and group membership as well as a good understanding of scripts and batch files and security concepts such as authentication and authorisation. Candidates are also required to have previously performed a clean installation of Windows 7 and an upgrade to Windows 7, know how to transfer user-related data and settings from Windows XP, configure disks, partitions, volumes and device drivers to enable Windows 7 to function as desired.

Candidates should also have experience with configuring and troubleshooting: permissions and other settings to allow access to resources and applications on Windows 7 Systems, settings to enable network connectivity, a wireless network connection, Windows 7 security and mobile computers and devices.

Finally, candidates should be familiar with: the client administration capabilities of Windows Server, management tools such as the System Centre suite of products and deployment, packaging and imaging tools as well as the ability to work in a team/virtual team and have trained and mentored others.
